So there are all these sites where someone can pirate unity assets and use them in their games. Im sure that this happens often and many games are published using this method. But i also see this as an opportunity for asset creators too. Say a game was published with this pirated asset and money was made eventually and as soon as enough money was made, it was spent on purchasing the asset. Some game developers(like me)do this for a hobby and cant afford 100$ for an asset. I know that it is still wrong but would there still be a consequence? Wouldnt that make more of these developers end up buying an artists asset technically? PS keep the rude answers and remarks to yourself i know its wrong but this is just a simple question:|
Technically it is illegal. But no one can stop you from doing so.
So the question is “would there be a consequence (of software piracy)?”
Yes. This is copyright infringement and you’d be sued. The consequence varies from country to country but, in the U.S., the penalty is up to $93,500 fine and up to 5yrs in prison.
