Box Collider or Mesh Collider, which one is more expensive?

which one is more expensive on this case ?

a box mesh (12 triangles) with Box Collider Component attached OR
a box mesh (12 triangles) with Mesh Collider Component attached.

Is it pretty much the same (considering the Mesh Collider itself is only 12 triangles) ??

or there’s some kind of optimization behind the scene that makes the Box Collider cheaper rather than using Mesh Collider.

thanks in advance

Yes, box collider is much faster than an identical mesh collider (with convex checked or unchecked). Use the primitive colliders whenever you can.

thanks a lot Matthew
i need to go back and remove all my mesh collider and attach box collider instead.

Is there a big difference between box, sphere and capsule?

Cheers,
Grant

I don’t think so. Sphere is cheapest, then capsule, then box, but I doubt it’s at all significant (even on the iPhone)…

“Traditionally”, the Box is a convex shape, and all the engine has to do for most collision tests is just test the planes that make up the faces; not the actual quads/triangles, as is the case with Meshes.
