Betwix the minutes 3 and 16 doth the magic occur.
Yeah, I agree with all that. Which is partially the reason I settled on Unity because they seemed to be the only ones who were willing to throw out old conventions for the better and understood that seemingly small efficiency and immediacy tweaks make ALL the difference.
I hope they see this and get some ideas! I know the time scrubber could very probably be done as is as a Unity plugin.
Since they have control over MonoDevelop I don’t see why the realtime compiling couldn’t be done also.
They need to take some cues from the video in the direct nature of things, like animations mapped to realtime input (mouse, wacom, midi etc) and REMEMBERING in game changes! I really hope they fix up the ‘recompile while running’ in Unity. I doesn’t support a lot of things. I’d love to be able to use it more.
I’ve got a list of similar ballpark ideas here, the Unity guys even implemented one! (drag GO’s into project window to make prefabs) http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/51433-Small-efficiency-ideas (hmm new forum has messed with the formatting…)
Unity Technologies crew, please do watch this video.
Why is this thread in Showcase?
Gigi.
Probably to reach the largest amount of people possible, as at least in my experience Showcase is the most viewed thread on the board. anyway, it was a very interesting presentation, thanks for sharing, idiosyncratic-make-believe-internet-board-“rules” be damned.
Showcasing an interesting demo?
This way of working would be great for non-coders to learn!
Seems Unity is going in this way :

Pleeeease keep working on it !
