Every time I bake a lightmap in my scene, I see these strange bright splotches. Other than that, everything looks pretty good. I’m at a loss as to what is causing these bright splotches. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
How is the scene lit? Are you using baked emissive materials?
The scene is lit with one sunlight object:
It is also lit by a few dozen chandelier lights (which there is one point light assigned to each chandelier):
The light bulbs of the chandeliers have the only emissive material I am using for this scene:
Does this information help?
Also, here is the material that is applied to the walls, floors, ceilings, etc that is getting the bright spots on it:
I suspect that it might be the baked emissive materials causing all the noise. Try disabling emission or replacing the material with a non-emissive one, and see if the issue reproduces.
If the issue still repros, you’d have to increase the number of indirect samples considerably, in addition to enabling filtering/denoising.
FYI, after increasing the number of direct samples and filtering/denoising, it finally got rid of the splotches. Thank you!!
I’ve got the same issue, it appears when I use indirect multiplier for baking a point light. Set the indirect multiplier to 0 solve the issue. Filtering/denoising was not enougth in my case.
