the unity hub has been broken for me and now wont open at all.
iv had two issues.
the unity hub repeatedly thinks that i dont have a license for unity when iv had one for years. i initially fixed this buy just reinstalling the unity hub but i had to do that every day and as of recently it doesnt work anymore.
as of yesterday after i updated the unity hub it just refuses to open. it will just infinity load till saying it encountered a critical error. i tried making a bug report but of funkin course the bug report system didnt work.
iv already tried literally every halt arsed solution thats thrown around and i want a coddamn fix.i have stuff people are waiting on and i cant even open the editor itself cause the hub forces its self in the way so im stuck literally incapable of opening unity.
is ther any way of cutting out the broken hub from the equation so i can get back to work or will i have to tell people that i have to wait who knows how long on the stupid rich company to fix their insufferable program?
While there are some licensing issues recently it shouldn’t require you to reinstall the Hub, certainly not every day.
I’d uninstall it completely, wipe the cached data (locations in the manual, somewhere under AppData), then reinstall. Be sure not to run the installer or hub or editor via “run as administrator” and install it to default locations. And disable/uninstall any 3rd party “security software” before installing.
Having to reinstall software after every restart is pointing towards something wrong with the system. So you can either spend a lot more time to analyze the issue and try different things, or reinstall.
This used to happen to me a lot, then it went away. I think it may have something to do with Unity’s servers but I’m not sure.
This one seems common, I haven’t stumbled upon it, but here is another thread with people complaining and also things to try to potentially fix the issue: https://discussions.unity.com/t/932012
In any case definitely don’t do such silly things like reinstalling Windows because Unity’s software doesn’t work properly.
