BSOD while editing Terrain - "Invalid Attach Attempt"

While editing some basic Terrain with the height modifiers, I lost the whole project with a BSOD that killed the PC. I noticed the bug name - “Invalid Attach Attempt”.

The first thing to happen was the mouse freezing in Unity3D, with the system flashing to blue screen immedietly after.

Usually a hardware or driver issue. Try updating your video drivers. Also possible your system is overheating. Verify your fans are running, and are clean. Validate the airflow is not blocked. Test your RAM using various diagnostics (like windiag if you are using windows).

All fans are running cold. Eight total on system powered by 750w. Might be driver. System is relatively new by only a few months, complete custom build.

BSOD happened to me today as well. I was away from the computer at the time, and came back to a blue screen.

I had recently saved the project/scene, so all but the terrain data seems to be fine. The terrain object is there but not the data.

If it happens again Ill try to find a crash report or something.

I just updated my graphics driver to latest version yesterday so it could be a buggy version, using GeForce GTX 460 1GB

EDIT: A character model has alsoo been “damaged”, with the following details:
ImportFBX Warnings:
Mesh ‘arm_maybe’ has 2502 (out of 2502) vertices with no weight and bone assigned (they will be assigned to bone #0 with weight 1). The list of vertices: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and so on…

The model is listed red in the Hiearchy, and I cannot drag prefab from Project window onto the scene

The model Im using is Modern Infranty Soldier from the assets store.
