Bug: Moving File Failed

Hey guys, I keep experiencing this error:

Every time I either save my project, or move an asset from one folder to another within the project panel in Unity. It’s EXTREMELY annoying, and even has cost me to loose some work (accidentally clicking the force quit when trying to save :frowning: ). After experiencing this error, my computer will always perform a disk check upon restarting.

I’m running Windows 7 64-bit, and believe the issue is related to this: http://subversion.wandisco.com/blogs/windows-7-bogus-errorfilecorrupt-error-.html

As I experienced this on my non-unity projects with subversion. But the hotfix which solved that issue apparently has no bearing on Unity. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

So, thanks to GC_Cryss on irc for this:

All I needed to do was to add an exclusion to the project folder in the indexing options.

You can do this by going to Control Panel->Indexing Options->Modify->Browse to your folder and uncheck it.

Thanks again GC_Cryss!!

I tried this fix and I’m still getting the error.

Ok, I tried the fix and it seems to be working… I’ve had this problem for ages so will be glad if it’s finally fixed.

Here’s the bug report I raised months ago about the problem that I never got a response to:

There’s another fix to this problem, because sometimes you might ‘overtweak’ some windows settings. In my case, Win7 was giving an error whenever I created / renamed a new directory.

And I figured that’s was the only reason why Unity was throwing error’ Moving file failed’ during build phase. Check this guide http://www.techjawa.com/2010/05/01/guide-fix-windows-folder-renaming-could-not-find-this-item/ . It’s really easy – download the rar file file and apply registry fix per your Windows bit version.
