Build Settings - Scene List - needs expandable view.

Not sure where this should be posted, these forums are kind of lacking in some categories, for eg specific package issues (not package manager, though maybe its all in one?, shrug), and it seem moderators randomly delete reasonable threads instead of simply moving them if they deem it not in the correct category.

Either way, i really feel like the build settings / scene list is really akward to work with. Any more than 7 scenes, and you have to drag and drop one in, which will almost surely be sent to index 0, then manually scroll drag the newly added items etc, the the bottom of the list (if thats where you wanted it). A floating expandable window for scenes would be cool as could be, but anything really would be better than the tiny little view it has currently. Maybe its just me.

It could be better.

I personally use addressables these days. The only scene in my build list is a boostrap scene to kick start the main addressables scenes.

Agreed 100%.

Building on that, how about:

  • make that window dockable, the same way the ProjectSettings inspector became dockable. It can’t be more than a one-day operation for a Unity engineer!

  • click (or doubleclick) on scene to bring cursor to Project window where Scene is located!

  • ability of the inspector to natively serialize Scene references (I think this might almost be here? I think I heard something)
