Building game and network.

Hello I am currently seeking game artist, fellow designers, coders and sound techs to start making new games. If you’re interested so feel free to reply. Also if you have any tips or ideas post those too.

A support forum probably isn’t the best place to post this. Maybe try www.reddit.com/r/gamedevclassifieds

But with a posting like that I wouldn’t expect any responses. You need to describe your game, mention what progress you’ve already made, and most importantly you need to talk about compensation. Where is the funding coming from? Is this a revenue share deal? If you’re trying to hook people for rev share with no up-front payment you better have the most badass game idea to have ever existed and a prototype / game design document to go with it.

You should also make separate postings for each position you are looking to fill with a detailed description of what the position will entail.

Also you should have some sort of timeline in mind. Will the game be released in 5 years? In a month?

Thank you for the reply. I’m currently a student at Full Sail University and hopefully i can find enough people to start a indie studio with. As far as the idea and progress I have characters, a class system, weapon enhancement system, different map regions, bosses, and a few events for the releasing. I do not have anything drawn yet. As far a payment cant. Untill the game becomes as big of a hit that i know and hope it will be.

It is possible to build a studio from almost nothing. I know, because I’ve done it (or, rather, I’m still doing it). But you are going to need at least a little bit of cash just to convince people that you are serious. Even if you can just scrape together a 500$ initial payment for your artist, you will be able to hook someone way more competent and experienced than with a pure revenue share deal.

My honest advice though is to limit the scope to as small of a project as possible and try and complete it on your own. The most import part is to try and actually release it to the public and learn to deal with all that that entails. Learn how difficult it is to get anyone to care enough to even click a link or look at a screenshot.

It’s going to be really hard to hook anyone who is not a direct friend or relative for your first super risky venture. Maybe I’m wrong though, if you’ve got enough previous projects / experience under your belt then maybe you’re ready to start a studios. It’s hard to say just from a couple postings, but the impression I get is that you could use a little more real world experience before starting your own studio. If you do end up posting more listings like this I recommend including a link to your own portfolio if you have one. If you don’t have one, now is the time to start building. Anything and everything is fair game, school projects, unfinished dream projects, boring side work. Anything you can put together to convince a potential employee that you are legit. Keep in mind that you’re selling yourself as a viable employer.

P.S. I’m also from the central Florida area. If you’re ever looking to do some unity slave work for free send me a message and I’ll get you some real world experience :stuck_out_tongue:
