Buildings you can walk into

Hello,
This may sound like a really stupid question, but anyway… I have just started using unity, and I am creating a small world. I want the player to be able to walk around outside, and then walk inside without a loading screen- Like for example Fable or WoW. Anyways, I modeled a house in Blender, made sure all of the walls were 3d, exported to .obj (and a few others) The model comes up, and I am able to create collisions and things, but when My character walks inside, The inside walls are invisible, and collision doesn’t work either. Can somebody please explain to me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Did you make the walls inside the house on Blender ? A face / triangle is only visible from one side. If you only made triangles for the outside, but not for the inside…

About the collisions, look in your object parameter, in your project panel. Select it and look at the Inspector. Check the Generate colliders box ?

Basically, if you want the inside of a building, you have to make it have an inside.

Im not sure what you mean. I modeled The Outside, then duplicated it To show the inside, Or do I have to Make a whole Nother model for the inside?

Or you can just make a new scene with a inside of the building. You use a collision detection on the outside “door” of the building, when you hit it while playing the inside building scene will be loaded.

Take a look at this model. http://www.3dand2dgraphic.com/2009/12/3d-model-parking-hut.html Look at the door. Can you see that there is a thickness there on the walls making up the door?

You need to have your walls like that…a large “box”. Then you can walk in and out of it, like you can this one.

Let me see if I can find you a building tutorial…I’m at work right now and can’t get the vimeo’s to show up (they won’t let us update the web browser).

If this doesn’t help, let me know.

That’s not good enough. You need to flip the normals.

thx for all your help, gotta go to school now, but Ill let you know when i get home

Not used Blender but in Max I would probably make the box and add an edit poly modifier on it, then highlighting the top face indent the face for the wall thickness and extrude the remaining highlighted face downward to use as the floor. Add a roof later.
Or, create the box and use the edit poly modifier to create the outside and roof, then use boxes in Boolean subtraction operations to create the inside, window and door openings.

ok, I tried remodeling the entire thing just out of cubes (i.e not going into edit mode. However, when I played, the faces of certain cubes faceing the camera are invisible! What am I doing wrong!!!

As Jessy said, you have to flip the normals.
Any face that renders invisible is one-sided and not facing the camera.
