I’ve been watching a few app auctions of flippa and am highly skeptical of the figures that
some apps are posting. They nearly all seem too good to be true even though they seem to be backed up with screen shots of data to prove the figures. Having a dozen games live now gives me a huge amount of scepticism because I know what numbers I get.
Take the one listed at the moment called Dashed, it claims $3k per month, I’ve tried it and can’t see how it can make that amount and if it does why would you sell it for a few thousand? If one of my games made me $3k peer month I’d never sell it for less than 2 years worth of income.
Just wondered what other peoples thoughts were on Flippa.
That’s the first app I looked at too…
The app might not look like anything special but it seems to be relatively popular, so the revenue from ads (and users paying to remove ads) could earn them a decent amount of money. Although claiming that they earned exactly $3k for 2 months in a row indicates they probably earned significantly less.
As for the reason why they might be selling it, it’s probably because the income from app is decreasing or they think they could get a lot of cash for it or both.
Also note that when bidding for something often the real money comes when the deadline is closing to the end, so it’s price will likely go further up.
