Hi! I would like to know if any one knows how to do any camera effects, for example, rounded edges. Similar to old school style TVs that played Atari. I have 2 pictures for example. One from a game called Battle Knights that I found on Gamejolt, and another is just from an Atari. Any one know how I can do these camera effects, or where I can learn to do this on a tutorial? Also, I would like to know how to have a VCR 90’s look to it, if you know how. Thanks
The rounded edge is easy. It is a camera effect that is called vignette. You have it under IMAGE EFFECTS - CAMERA EFFECT - vignette and chromatic abberation. This will however be quite costly on performance but looks really cool
Scanline is a bit harder. That is a shader and probably you can find but cannot think of one right now
Great! Thanks alot! I do have one quick, small question, though. It doesnt quite give a rounded look, as it just makes the corners darker. Do you know how to make the screen look, rounder?
You need to make the edges darker (no transparency). The vignette effect is rounding your screen but the darkening is somewhat transparent. If you change its opacity you should be able to achieve at the the screen rounding effect you’re looking for.
How do I change the opacity? The advanced option?
I’d like to point out that the vignette effect will not actually warp your camera giving you the retro fish-eye effect. It will just give you the darkened corners.
You could try experimenting with the FishEye camera effect: http://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/script-Fisheye.html
I’ve never used it, but it’s worth looking at.
There is avery cool asset that supports the round look in 2D:
However its not free, but the assets provides enough value to be a worthwhile purchase.
This is the effect you can achive with a drag and drop (having the asset), the rounded look can be easily tweaked in order to achive the softt round look of your image
