Camera Issues

I want the object in my game to scroll through the game instead of the player being able to see the whole scene.

I have been able to accomplish this by parenting the MainCamera to the player object being moved.

But when the player object collides with an object and explode the scene reverts to a blue screen because the MainCamera has been destroyed.

I would like to know what script should be used that would switch to a secondary camera not parented to the player object to show the scene after the player object has collided with something and been destroyed that would still allow one camera to follow the object in the same manner as if only one camera was parented to the player object?
