Can Decals support World UV's?

Hello,
Using Unity 2019.3.8f1, and HDRP 7.3.1. Can Decal Projectors support World UV’s in a shader?
So far, our testing seems to suggest that they sort of can, but the depth breaks.
IE. we make a shader graph for them, put a material with it onto a Decal Projector but no matter what we do, we end up with the decal “Cutting” into whatever it’s projected onto (so we get a Cube cut) rather than lying over the top of the target objects.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.
