Can I build For Apple Vision Pro using Unity Free and VisionOs

Dear Unity Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently working on a project that involves building for the Apple Vision Pro platform using Unity. I’m using the free version of Unity, and I am specifically interested in compatibility with VisionOS.

Could someone please clarify whether building for Apple Vision Pro and VisionOS is possible with the free version of Unity, or if there are any specific licensing requirements associated with this platform? I would appreciate any insights, experiences, or guidance you can provide on this matter.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

You need Unity Pro or higher.

You CAN build Windowed apps for the Vision Pro with the Personal or Student license.

You cannot build mixed reality (bounded or unbounded volumes) or virtual reality apps. Those do require a Pro, Enterprise or Industrial license.

I wish they would change their mind on this policy like they did with the runtime fee.

This license is a real shame… Now students, hobbyists (like me) and indies can’t make games for emerging platforms. Terrible strategy, Unity!!

Please add free license for learning, not going to pay these crazy prices just to see what I can build. Charge me at publish.

Unity - please remove the pay-wall for visionOS development. This cripples innovation and indie developers from getting to grips with the platform.

Unity needs to change this policy IMMEDIATELY and make full visionOS development FREE to ALL Unity devs … including those using the FREE version of Unity. This current paywall policy is predatory and evil and fundamentally against everything Unity stands for along with the principles the company was founded under… democratizing game development.
I have now moved on to Unreal Engine since this decision was announced and I refuse to ever use Unity again until this decision is reversed. And I have been a Unity developer for well over 15 years so listen up Unity!!
