Hey I am new in this comminuty and my name is alex. I hope to Help and Get help for now.
I don’t start using any game engine yet.
I have few questions:
About Graphics: Is it possible To build games like Black White, Skyrim And gta In Unity 3d game engine with the same phisics, graphic full integrated world?
What the biggest difference between cryengine, udk and unity 3d in Graphic and Phisics aspects?
If i created a game, is union really good for selling it? i mean if the game is something good as skyrim for example? not simple one.
Firstly, from experience, id like to say that Unity is capable of creating just about anything you can think of you just have to be very cautious with optimisation. I have my bias opinion on other engines (Cry, UDK) that they’re just advanced map editors so im not even going to compare.
I wouldn’t say less powerful, more like a few features that are in cryengine/UDK aren’t in Unity (but they’re coming slowly).
Graphics and physics, not so much different. Only thing is that not alot of people have pushed Unity to its limit.
Thing about the other engines is that if you want to publish your game commercially your going to have to pay a fee.
Might almost be harder to use the others.
i know that there is many subjects like mine.
The problem that i don’t really sure if it’s possible really to get really huge results.
the questions come becouse there is no youtube videos with unity 3d that really shows perfect graphic or game that
build on it.
That’s why i ask this 3 questions.
I am sorry for that really (anoye question).
You’ll be limited by your lack of skill rather then the engine. Even if you had some knowledge, keep in mind all these games were made by teams of roughly 100 people, working on it full time for 2-4 years. So if you wanted to do it yourself, you’d need 3 years * 100 people = 300 years.
Whenever this topic comes up (almost daily) I think the only necessary reply that needs to be made is this:
Then the OP just needs to ask themselves, “are my own capabilities beyond the graphics or gameplay of these existing games?” If the answer is no then Unity is probably not going to be the bottleneck/limitation in making your game.
I can empathize with this idea though that in order to believe that you can make your dream game you need to see amazing AAA stuff come out of the tool that you use. I use to fall into this same trap, but with a different medium.
I’m a hobbyist musician and when first starting out I thought I had to use the exact same DAW or synthesizers that my favorite musicians used… for example I love Autechre and like to make music similar to them. And without that certain synthesizer or plug-in they used it would just be impossible to sound as good. This is of course a silly notion (but still one that took me some time to realize).
Autechre doesn’t sound great because they use Elektron and Clavia gear… they’re simply more talented musicians than I will most likely ever be.
And the same argument can be made for game engines. Unity, UDK, or CryEngine isn’t the main factor in making a great game… you are.
Seems to be covered well, I will just add that people that can afford an AAA engine license can also afford 10-40 top-tier artists and programmers on their team. So the connection between quality and engine is not the trivial Good Engine = Beautiful Game, but rather Good Team = Beautiful Game.
So, as conclusion, yes, you can do just about anything in Unity that you can in the other engines. Unity will not hamper your result to the degree that the team will.
You know, it’s really nice to see someone say that not “everyone” can do it. Everyone is different and have different capabilities. I’m sick of hearing anyone can do it if they put their mind to it.
