Facebook’s module will be installed only if you agree to in the Unity installer. You can check if you have it by clicking on its icon in the Build Settings:
yes. thank you. i thought as much - i accepted it because i thought it was something that just waited inactive til i needed it, like the other builds - but, it loads VERY CONSPICUOUSLY everytime unity loads and it insinuates itself inbetween any pc/windows/web build, without you EVER even thinking about FACEBOOK, all the sudden, my build is titled facebook and i’m just offended and will use Unreal if this ever becomes permanent/mandatory
it’s no secret that facebook/google are the monsanto of the internet - they do nothing without a sinister/exploitative side to it - i deal with them at arm’s reach - facebook can’t be loading a damn thing when i start Unity, just UNACCEPTABLE and not what i come to UNITY for, to have facebook slithering all over my machine
looks like i’m going to have to uninstall Unity and re-install without facebook - and, yes, i use a retro-uninstaller that finds everything it will leave
i see facebook loading and i just feel dirty, like damn, they finally got me…
I understand your concerns, but at the end of the day, you accepted to install the module so you can build for their services. If you don’t want to build for Facebook Gameroom, save the hard drive space and don’t install it.
The title bar will always change based on what platform you’re targeting. When I target Android, I get this:
That doesn’t mean that Google is doing anything to my PC. Even though I disagree with their censorship, I’ve chosen to have the ability to build for their Android OS, and for that to happen, I need their module.
I don’t see what you’re upset about, it’s not like you’re even sending any data back to them. Just uninstall the module, no big fuss needed. If you are using their module, it will have to load something when you start Unity so the Editor can load the proper settings, and when building, it’ll need to load its build tools to make the application package, just like any other platform.
well, let’s see, what am i so upset about? firstly, i’ve used Unity for years and building for pc wasn’t locked to facebook - secondly, facebook installs itself on your desktop, too - sure, i agreed to have it because i thought it was PASSIVE, like all the other build choices
but, it is extremely aggressive, like everything facebook and google does and horrendously INVASIVE and it HIJACKS your build, whether you check the facebook option or no and i watched microsoft do this with skype and it’s just more big corp F*CKERY
THEN, when i uninstall facebook, i do another sweep and there’s DOZEND of facebook related files and entries still on my computer and when i do another purge, there were still two more files remaining
i accepted the facebook build because i thought i had the OPTION to turn it on or not, like all the other builds have always, always, always been
but, as soon as slimy facebook is involved, it’s loading on your desktop when you start your computer and taking over your unity builds and communicating online god knows what - but, instead of being a PASSIVE ASSET, it’s active and autonomous and it has it’s own mission before i’ve even asked it to do anything
AND, after re-installing it WITHOUT FACEBOOK, i just found it on my desktop AGAIN - so, it forces itself on to my computer - typical facebook sh*t - and, when i un-install AGAIN, i’ll have to use special software to get every trace of i out
just a VIRUS, passing as a Unity Asset - what else would you expect from a data-collection wing of the cia/nsa?
and, facebook gameroom does not show up in your installed programs when it sneaks onboard - the only way you know it’s re-installed itself is having your task manager open and seeing two facebook processes - SO, it’s installed itself AFTER i un-installed it and re-installed unity WITHOUT FACEBOOK and used special software to get all remnants off my computer, it’s still there, running resident, doing whatever facebook programmed it to do - totally against my wishes
Sounds weird. I’ve never used facebook component, so i know nothing about it. Are you sure this facebook problem came with unity? If that’s the case, not good.
yes. it wasn’t ‘bundled’ with unity before - it’s like when microsoft bought skype or google bought youtube, suddenly, you couldn’t watch a video without google wanting to collect data and you couldn’t make a call without signing into microsoft and companies like these are beyond the MONEY and just have their AGENDAS for society - i do not permit google or facebook products on my devices - if they want to data-mine my life, i’m not handing them the keys, they’ll have to work harder than just forcing some software on me
when i accepted the facebook install, it appeared on my desktop - when i didn’t accept it but, it installed ANYWAY but,it doesn’t appear on the desktop, just in the task manager - so, you won’t know it’s ON and RUNNING and connected to the internet - can you be any more sneaky or deliberate or sinister (as in, nothing good)?
