Can I nominate a person for Mod privileges?

If I am able:

This person is very hard working when it comes to keeping the peace, helping others etc.

They are very knowledgeable on community spirit, rules, and have a good technical prowess regarding Unity as many times they have helped keep a thread going with useful, valuable, information.

Forum personality wise; they are pleasant, helpful and always offer help or try to find help to a person who is looking for assistance.

This is the member. She’s great for the community and I think she will be great as a Mod.

Ryiah derails threads, also her name sounds like a monster from a greek epic.

I don’t think that’s how it works, but if it is, I would second that nomination.

… you really need to ask Ryiah if she wants this position.

Is she a “she”?

+1 Its work that not everyone wants not a reward.

How is this relevant?

Yes, before making such a thread.

Did you talk to her about this? You didn’t even tag @Ryiah properly so she get’s a notification for this thread.

How does the whole process work? Just Wondering if Mods are also being monitored by company for professionalism and courtesy like giving a short limited warning etc. since it is a huge responsibility.

It isn’t relevant to whether Ryiah should be a mod, but it is relevant to the discussion. If you are going to call someone by pronouns, it is polite to use the pronouns that they identify as.

As far as whether you can nominate a mod, I don’t think it works that way in any official capacity, but I’m sure the Unity staff does pay attention to who the community respects, so the post may still have some benefit if they ever decide they need more mods and if Ryiah is interested.

No it doesn’t.

It is, however, very impolite to ask.

Use what you think is right. If you’re wrong, they’ll correct you, and then you just have to never be wrong again. Being wrong repeatedly is very, very insulting. Being wrong once, however, is normal.

@Ryiah there’s no time to get your stuff, just run!

Yeah, I can agree with that. I doubt Ryiah is the kind of person that is going to get upset about someone assuming their gender so letting it ride would have been the best bet. Though some people do get really mad if you assume their gender.

Did you just assume that someone assumed someone’s gender?

Most people have a gender you can identify from half a block away. If I need more effort than that, you’re probably doing a bad job of presenting.

Or not even attempting to.

Now someone make @Ryiah a mod so they can close this thread for my derailment. I feel like Tommmn. (His name wouldn’t autocomplete, is he not here anymore?) I miss our jester. And I’m not sure I have the correct number of Ms in his name.

Are you really sure this person is a Ms at all? :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry guys! And sorry for bumping the thread to say sorry too!

The thread is not derailed. Chill, people, who think they derailed the thread.

All posts are valuable within this thread as ‘sensible’ conversation is happening even though some opinions clash or others’ idea of proper courtesy is put to question. cough…

Let’s keep it all going sensibly…please!

I think the issue in world wide forums is there are so many different cultures and social norms that things can easily get misinterpreted. What is socially acceptable to ask in some cultures may be considered socially unacceptable in others. Therefore I try not to get too tweaked when someone says something, or asks a question in a manner I would never do. I just assume the best intent.

And I too think Ryiah is a great benefit to the forums, and would make a great Mod if it ever comes down to it.
