Hi all,
Can I safely uncheck Armv7.
I think it is a very old technology.
For which platform?
If Android, then there still are a lot of armv7 device in use. Unticking this option is safe, but it reduces your potential user base.
You can, but if you are targeting as many android devices as possible I suggest keeping it on
Where on earth do you get these wild ideas from? It’s only the most popular CPU in the entire freakin’ world!
Make an AAB without ARM7, upload it to Google Play and compare the “Available devices” and see for yourself.
But you’re always welcome to no longer support it if it offends you in some “old technology” way.
BTW, my car uses gasoline internal combustion which is also a VERY old technology.
My game uses post-processing.
Some android devices (probably low-memory ones) crash at the game’s first load.
And we do play time tests with a publisher company and these devices are killing my play time.
.Therefore, I thought if I disable this old technology I can get rid of them.
You can certainly get rid of all the customers using ARM7 if you turn that off.
I did a quick test for you @mfatihbarut !
I tried replacing one of my ARM7/ARM64 Android games with an only-ARM64 binary just now on Google Play.
Both were built with Unity2020.3.41 and Android SDK 31, with min targeted SDK of Android 19 (Kit-Kat)
While I have no idea what fraction of actual deployed devices this impacts, It basically dropped over half of device types.
But of course a lot of those are older types going way back.
I’ll keep building ARM7 thanks!
You can get better statistics based on (install?) count instead of unique model count by going to “Reach and devices/Overview/ABI” section in google play console both for your specific app and median on Google Play. Although seems that latest numbers are broken, if you look at the graph over time there were somewhat reasonable values in 0-100% range until last week or two and then it suddenly jumped to 200-300% .
