I know it was just released for 2020.2, but I’m using 2019.2 and I can’t really upgrade without breaking a lot of things in my current project. Is there anyway I can still use it by downloading a dependency in the package manager?
Yes C# is not from unity itself it a separate program.
That’s really not accurate. Although Unity didn’t make C#, they still need to do all sort of things to get the engine to support it. There’s basically zero chance they’d backport C# 8 support to any 2019 version at this point.

Just curious, what new features do you want from C#8?
well, yeah, but there’s different versions of it and just because a new one is out doesn’t mean everyone is using it automatically, it’s like saying your car now has 1000KW because the new model developed has a stronger engine - gotta install that sucker.
