Can I use the same costume from another game or an anime character without having any legal issues?

Let’s say I want to create a costume for the characters in my game that is like the one from Mario or Naruto. Would I have any issues regarding copyright? If so, would there be any solution like creating something alike?

Talk to a lawyer?

I’d suggest not getting too close to other people’s/company IP. You can take elements and influences but not the whole thing wholesale. Also avoid using their names as well as they will definitely be trademarked and/or protected under copyright law.

Again, I’m no lawyer, talk to a lawyer about your specific case and usage.
