Can Unity create this game?

I want to create a stupid random 2 player game, but I don’t know if Unity is the right game engine to create it. It’s not an RPG, it’s like a fast game of 3d checkers that shoot. The reason I have doubt is because it isn’t like a game that people would make with Unity, but I don’t know game engines or graphics. I don’t want to learn Unity and c# if Unity isn’t designed to create a game like this.

SPECIFICS: The game has pieces that move around inside a 3d grid. The grid can be made hidden/visible (optional). The pieces would take up multiple squares inside the grid, like a worm, and can move around inside the grid, like a worm. The pieces would have guns that shoot out - if the other piece is in line in the same direction as a gun on the piece, it automatically gets hit (guns shoot straight out from the piece only if the other piece is in range of the gun, and the other piece always gets hit). The pieces are directed in the grid by clicking them with a mouse, and dragging the mouse in the intended direction for them to travel. The piece then change direction to the direction the mouse was dragged.

Yes.

The answer to “can Unity do this” is pretty much always “Yes”.
It wasn’t designed to make any specific kind of games - you can build whatever you can think of.

I promise you that your own limits will be a problem before any limitation of the engine is an issue you’ll be concerned with. Honestly, both Unreal and Unity are capable of making great games of any kind. It’s the people working on them that make the games great, regardless of engine.

Thanks! I have experience in Ruby and general website stuff, but haven’t tried making a game yet. Learning stuff generally sucks, but I enjoy getting heavily involved in all consuming projects. Problem is, from time to time, I get involved in too many projects, but I always find time to party, regardless.

No better time than now - Unity Engine is like pandemic relief  I’ve never had so much fun just wasting away!

The answer is not,Unity cannot create this game for you
But you may create this game using unity so not all is lost
