Hello i was just wondering how powerful unity really is but can it handle a game like call of duty black ops and can it do the exact same features just like in call of duty black ops like for example building a killsteak feature?
Can it even build a game like that or build a game like battlefield 3
Start with unity.
By the time you meet any limitation of the engine (if you ever do), you’ll be more than competent enough to make a decision of what to do.
Good answer but just a straight forward question yes or no.
Define what exactly you want to know.
Can it handle big games like call of duty 4 or battlefield 3 thats all i want to know
or is unity just a small game builder?
Like can you make big games without unity crashing on you
Unity can be used to make big games.

Thanks man for showing me that marine game that was a big project now i can continue my big project. Thank you
Yes, Unity can be used to create AAA games.
The reason you don’t see them (or at least how I explain it to myself) is that using an engine that has not been proven to be powerful is a huge risk to the serious developers/publishers that spend millions of $$$ per title. Now you may ask, they use UDK, why isn’t that a risk? The creators behind UDK (Epic) created a series of games to showcase their engine (unreal tournament). The Unity team has not felt the need to create a AAA game, so it is up to us, the Unity users, to create that wonderful game that will show everybody just what Unity can do. (eventually, if you’re a beginner make an awesome Pong clone and start from there )
Feel free to pick apart my statement. I posted it to see what other’s opinions are on the matter.
I posted this in my statement and I’ll post it again just in case you missed it:
If you’re a beginner make an awesome Pong clone and start from there.
Don’t try to make the next Call of Duty or any other AAA title, unless you have years of experience, or have finished a few (moderately difficult) games. Please.
