can unity3d run in netbook ?

hi
how are you ?
so i want buy a new netbook but is able to run unity3d or no ?
i want your help please Because I do I need to work outside the home by unity in netbook

It can i heard that one guy is using it but it cant make games with great graphics because it will lag but its good for mobile devices.

I tried running a Unity made Windows stand alone on my HP netbook. It ran, but oh so slowly at the player’s “Fastest” setting. I doubt the Unity editor would run well enough to get any real work accomplished. You’re better off with either a full sized notebook or desktop.

thank you but i want to use the mono develop for programtion not graphic design

good i have a ful laptop desktop but i want netbook to work outside the home
It is necessary to work normally or not
what is the best netbook for unity

There is no best netbook. Even the best one running on Ion2 and an Intel Atom D525 still is a joke that can barely keep it up if your game goes beyond the complexity of a simple “hidden object” game on BigFishGames
You can and will not create anything visually stunning or full 3D on a netbook cause GPU as well as CPU are both by far too lacking to handle the running client + Editor in parallel which you basically need for the play mode.
You are better of skipping netbooks and either invest in a subnotebook at 11" and alike like the macbook Air and comparable ultrabooks using Win7 like the Samsung 9 series with their Core i3 2k cpu and OnCPU GPU which is worlds beyond anything a netbook can offer (or if you are lucky a corresponding A4-A8 AMD based ultra book is an option too, their 6550 fusion gpu is even stronger, but they are an extremely rare breed)

A netbook with Atom Dual Core and Ion2 (I have tested the Asus 1015 PN with that configuration) can run the Unity editor well. The problem is the small screen but you could make games like Angry Bots, although it is a project very optimized and is made by professionals, runs pretty well in the Asus 1015PN. You also will want to upgrade the Ram to 2Gb, because it is shipped with only 1 Gb.

who would want to torture himself by running unity on a netbook ^^? Just go get a laptop with a dedicated graphic card and at least a 13 inch screen, but then you sure want something near fullhd, otherwise its going to be horror…

thank you my friends
LrBurns : i have a laptop full but i want a netbook
but what about of this netbook Sony VAIO YB Series VPC-YB15KX/S is very good

‘very good’ is relative.
Its slower than a Intel Atom D525 + ION2 but better than an intel without an ION

Yet its that large that its no longer a netbook but a small notebook, in that size you better get a MacBook Air which easily stomps over it on every single aspect due to the Intel Core processor and the HD3000 gpu, this every single aspect even nearly holds for the battery lifetime, the netbook won’t last much longer than the MB Air

My friend thought it was appropriate to run
But I did not understand "the netbook won’t last much longer than the MB Air "

If you consider the price it’s not so bad. However, if you want something (spec-wise) similar to the macbook air at the same screen real-estate; The just released ASUS U36SD (it’s around 300$ cheaper vs the MBA too)

It looks like the best compromise between a netbook and a full blown notebook with specs capable of running your projects slightly better than the HD3000. The CPU is stronger but will eat your battery faster than the MBA.

Hard choice, but you’ll probably regret it less than buying a full fledged netbook. At least wait for Q1 2011 for the new AMD’s fusions if you really want to go that way…

You pulled that out of context which was battery life and how long each of them will last on battery, where the netbook will not last much longer if at all as the netbook needs to run on 100% to get through with unity and a core i3 doesn’t need to

the mentioned asus is significantly stronger but it can also be happy to get beyond 2.5h of battery life if at all when used with unity due to the gpu and cpu

Choice is very difficult but I’ll buy Netbooks able to run what I want to buy a particular day of the MacBook
because I want to run unity3d are only average

Sorry but that sentence is impossible to understand, it looks like at least half of it went missing

I have an Alienware M11X, 11" Display, 1.8ghz dual core, 1GB Nivida 335M Video, 4GB RAM

Unity Pro runs very well on it and it is a brilliant mobile development platform. Infact I use it as my minimum spec for ‘Fantastic’ settings for my game Lunar Flight. It holds 30FPS.

thank you my friend for this info
i will buy a netbook intel cpu 1.6 ghz ram 2 or 4 gb vga

The new 11" macbook air is probably the best small-form factor light machine I have ever had the pleasure to use. With bootcamp, you get both mac os and windows 7. What’s not to love?

Plus it has i5 on the base model, with enough gpu power to run practically anything you want. Only problem is price.
