Can XR interaction toolkit make VR for phone?

Can the XR interaction toolkit publish VR for the phone?

I started using cardboard SDK, but all im really looking for is that “double vision” VR and AR mode on android or ios.

Can xr toolkit do that? Or is it headset specific?

Hi @tree_arb , I’m not sure I understand your question. The XR Interaction Toolkit is used to add input & interactions to your AR/VR experiences. It’s supported on the AR/VR platforms that Unity supports (ARCore, ARKit, Oculus, Magic Leap, HoloLens, Windows Mixed Reality).

I think I mentioned this in another thread you started, but we didn’t see enough market traction for phone-based VR to continue supporting it. Google developed an open-source Cardboard plugin for Unity, so we recommend using that for phone-based VR. However it’s not directly supported by Unity so any questions/issues you have will need to be posted on their Github. Thanks!

OK thanks for explaining. I wasn’t quite understanding the xr interactive toolkit as a set of components that goes on top of, say an AR foundation app that I am already working with…i hope I have that right now.

Using AR foundation, or other unity packages, I thought there might still be a an option to simply turn on that double vison feature instead of needing a separate sdk. I don’t need any other cardboard features except the double camera.

So as I understand it, sounds like you are saying no that is not an option in unity native packages.

Thank you for explaining.
