I followed a few of the video tutorials, both official and unofficial, and I feel I’m ready to start studying some books. Already read The Art of Game Design, and I have a few others, but any suggestion is welcome, no matter the difficulty level, from beginner to expert.
It might be a little advanced and overkill for intermediate-beginner level, but if you want to get into AI, you should consider buying Game AI Pro: Collected Wisdom of Game AI Professionals 1 and 2! They are expensive, but they are really really good!
About 140 usd for both, so I would recommend getting the grasp on basic AI first. FYI, I am making a free tutorial next week covering more than just the basics of AI, so check out for that aswell
My book Unity in Action is a good one for learning how to program with C#, plus there is even an appendix that covers modeling in Blender. Plus if you liked Art of Game Design, then Jesse Schell (author of Art of Game Design) wrote the foreword for my book!
Well I would say if you only get one you should read trough the topics and see which you think are the most interresting! The books are a collection of different articles written by professionals, but put together so going from one chapter to the next seems very natural. The topics in each book are very different. I haven’t read both books yet, but people Ive talked to said that they liked the second book better.
The list of topics are on the website: http://www.gameaipro.com/
Also you can read some of the topics for free on amazon preview thing!
