So I’ve just come across a annoying issue. No matter what I do, if I use different browsers, delete all browsing data, clear login details, I cannot change the account I that is being logged in on Unity Hub. When I go to log in to my personal account (solo game development entirely outside of my job and mostly for fun) I enter those details into the browser and it immediately logs back into my professional account for my job. This is driving me nuts as I just want to get some work done
I’ve tried both Opera and Chrome for logging in. I’ve cleared all their data to try and force the login screen to show up again, and even after entering entirely different details it goes back to my professional account
I don’t really know what else to say, but from a user switching between a work account and my personal account, this implementation of manually logging out and back in every time is one of the most annoying and poorly designed things I’ve experienced professionally. We need to have the ability to switch accounts directly inside of the Unity Hub, it would save a good chunk of time
As a troubleshooting attempt you could go try going into the Unity website like the Asset Store for example and logging out of the account there and re-logging into the correct one that you want to use. That should technically work, but if the issue persists please report it via the Unity Hub Bug reporter (Help → Report a Bug…)
Additionally regarding this part:
“We need to have the ability to switch accounts directly inside of the Unity Hub, it would save a good chunk of time”
Just go into the roadmap, then select See Roadmap for Unity Hub and wait a bit and a window in the page will pop up where you can then fill out the form.
Anyone who encounters this, you need to change the account signed in specifically on the unity accounts web pages, changing it on the asset store or unity home pages.
Or if you have the editor open and logged into the wrong account on the upper middle left where your account initials are, you can click the dropdown and select “my account” which will take you to that site.
Once you’re on that website you can sign out and change the logged in account, then in hub/unity you sign out and sign back in will do the automatic process on the website.
Unity desperately needs account switching for developers. I have a work account with work related assets and unity features and a personal account with my personal assets and features and it’s a pain in the backside logging in and out when I switch projects.
Thanks folks for helping @Wallf identify the source of the issue. We completely agree that the account switching in its current state is quite confusing. The good news is we have a proper account switching solution coming to the Hub in the very near future.
