Anyone else having a problem installing the WebGL modules? I tried on my Mac pro 10.8.5 and imac running 10.11 and both times, using the Download Assistant to install only the WebGL module , the install fails and I have no Web GL module loaded.
Which version of Unity ? Could you please try again to see if you consistently get this problem ?
I was on an older (5.3.2?) version, upgrading to 5.3.4 now⌠and i now am able to load WebGL although last night I wasnât able to see this new version for whatever reason. Thanks!
I am having the same problem while installing WebGL Support

I had the same problem on OSX.
In my case the solution was to make sure that the correct version was installed below /Applications/Unity !
I am currently running both Unity 4.7 and Unity 5.4 and in my case Unity was setup as a symlink to 4.7.
WebGL installed w.o. any problems once it was the 5.4 version that was below /Applications/Unity
(WebGL installs stuff below /Applications/Unity/PlaybackEngines/WebGLSupport)
Hope this can help someone
Cheers,

shreegj,
I was running into the same problem as you. The issue for me was that I had renamed the Unity folder (as recommended by a class Iâm taking) from âUnityâ to âUnity 5.4.2â. By renaming it back to âUnityâ, the WebGL installer was able to run successfully.
Hope that helps.
Lmao, saved me from downloading a new version.
Hi all,
I facing the same issue, Iâm using Unity 2018.2.0f2 with Unity Hub.
Installation failed every time I tried. I thought it was because I had older versions installed so moved them to an other folder but it doesnât change anything !
@[Marco-Trivellato]( Cannot install web GL module on macs (install failed: Installer encountered an error ) members/marco-trivellato.341252/) have you an option that doesnât force me to reinstall everything or an other version of Unity ?
Thx
Alex
Same problem with Unity 2017.4.11f1
I canât reproduce the issues with installing you are seeing. Can you be so nice to reproduce the issue again on your machine and then send a bug reporter from the hub so we get the logs for it.
For any future install issues with the hub please refer to the dedicated Unity Hub forum at Unity Engine - Unity Discussions
I managed to install the component using Unity HUB. The problem is with the direct link from the Editor.
Iâm having the same issue on Unity 2017.4.24f1 personal version.
Now that Iâm looking closer at the situation I can see the WebGl Support under PlayBackEngines in the unity folder.
For some reason the Build settings window is reporting that âNo WebGl Module Loaded.â Iâm a bit new to this was wondering if I should move the WebGl support to another location so that Unity seeâs it? It will not allow me to select the âBuildâ as a result.
Unity 2019.1.11
Same Error. Canât install Web GL module. Downloads fine, but installation fails during the âValidating Filesâ section.
I faced this problem as well. If you are using a Mac, you can try this:
- go to âApplicationâ
- create a folder named âUnityâ
- drag all the stuff under the current version of Unity that you are using into the new âUnityâ folder
- install the module
- drag all the stuff back to the original folder
- DONE
Iâve tried this for a few times and it worked pretty well.
facing the same issue with unity 2019.2.9f1 when installed through the link from editor, trying to install it form the hub hope it works will update if it works that way.
Worked like a charm when installed through the hub
how did you install it through the hub
Go to âInstallsâ â Select a version (click on the 3 dot menu) â Add Modules â WebGL Build Support
Installing through the hub also did the trick for me.
Oh hell yes thank you, going through the hub worked easy for me. Tried everything else on this page, but it was mostly outdated.
