Not sure whether there are threads describing my situation. I successfully installed Unity free edition and read about manual activation (this is the only option available for my home pc - I have no internet connection there). I had installed the same edition at my working place previously. And I took the generated license file for my working pc and applied it to my home pc. It said that license information is wrong. Now I can’t re-activate/re-install it on my home pc. I tried removing everything I could find related to Unity including registry entries. Nothing helped. How can I re-install Unity?
- Delete any existing license, see:
http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Manual/Unity4xActivation-Overview.html
-
Re-install Unity.
-
Run Unity.
-
Unity will ask to be activated. Select manual activation.
-
Save the generated activation file to your Desktop.
-
Copy this activation file to a USB stick.
-
Take USB stick to your office and hit the website:
https://license.unity3d.com/manual
-
Select the free activation option.
-
Save the license file to your USB stick.
-
Take USB stick home, and switch to Unity. Unity will ask to load the license file, so point it at your USB stick and Unity should read the license file and get you running.
This information (without the mention of home, USB stick and office) can be found at:
In the same way that your office keys are unlikely to unlock your home front door, the license file that makes Unity work at your office will not make Unity work at home.
Yes, I realise that Thank you for your quick response!
