Cannot watch Videos on Asset **Store**

I have tried the following browsers (Linux):

Firefox, Thorium, Brave, Chromium, Google Chrome.

None of these browsers can watch any videos associated with a product on the Unity Asset Store.

The Cookie Settings button is a lie: it does nothing. Even the Cookie Settings at the bottom of the page is another lie: it does nothing.

Even vanilla installs of Google Chrome which is a privacy disaster cannot watch these videos. At this stage this is a bug with the website.

Even on Google Chrome on my Android device off of my network (so on my Carrier) I still cannot access these videos… I’ve even added Unity Asset store as an exception to every policy possible in my browser and still cannot watch these videos, cannot adjust cookie settings, nothing.

I’m at wit’s end…

This could have many causes and they’re most likely found on your end / outside the control of Unity as such issues are only very rarely reported. Possible causes:

  • security software filtering web traffic (3rd party, OS or router)
  • country of origin / ISP-level filtering
  • use of VPN software
  • any other resident software or driver that may affect/alter web traffic

Just a few possibilities.

This is what it took not even kidding. I’m actually kinda furious…

I had to disable blocking on my Pi-Hole, turn off every one of my Anti-Ad / Privacy Measure Extensions. Then and only then did the “Cookie Settings” button work.

You would think pullilng my Phone off of my Network or pulling my iPad off of my network (tethered to my mobile carrier) would have eliminated the PiHole being the issue, but apparently not…

Either way. Yeah.

dang… i’m using pihole too…
Kinda strange that I just have this problem on unity store and i’ve no other problem… I mean it’s just embed youtube video that i can just search… so something might be overlaying it

update: somehow i can just disable blocking on pihole → reload the page → re enable blocking… now the video works everytime

In my case, I solved this problem by logging into the Unity Asset Store directly.
In other words, I used Unit ID and password to login,

However, when I logged in with my Google account, it got stuck in an infinite loop of setting cookies and repeatedly logging in.

I had the exact same issue. The problem was caused by my VPN. It blocked all Cookies and Pop-ups. Therefor I didn’t even notice that there was a pop-up asking me which cookies I accept…
For videos to work you have to accept functional and targeted cookies. I set my VPN to only allow cookies on the unity asset store.

What if you don’t have ANY of those things blocking anything and the cookies button still doesn’t work and videos still won’t load?

I discovered a solution for myself, after years of being slightly and regularly annoyed by it. In Firefox, I have the extension I Don’t Care About Cookies, which gets rid of all cookie approval popups (sometimes automatically accepting or rejecting them, depending on what is needed for the site). I disabled the extension for the asset store site, and then clicked the Cookie Settings button which now worked. Reloaded the site, and at last I can see videos. In retrospect, this is an obvious solution.
