I’m trying to have my shader height values ping pong like the example for shader Shininess, but nothing happens
var shininess = Mathf.PingPong(Time.time, 1);
renderer.materials[1].SetFloat("_Shininess", shininess);
that works when I assign a shader with a Shininess slider
var heightX = Mathf.PingPong(Time.time, 1);
renderer.materials[1].SetFloat("_Height", heightX);
but this doesn’t work when I assign a shader with a Height slider
any ideas?
I’ve tried different shaders with Height sliders and none seem to animate
Try using Material.HasProperty to see if the property exists. I’m sure it does really exist, but this will tell you if there is a spelling mistake, underscore, case issue or whatever in the shader.
thanks! I was able to quickly eliminate _Height, _height, Height, and height- which left me nowhere
I found I could download the source code for the builtin shaders and looked up the one in question- apparently the property’s real name is _Parallax!
thanks for the help- it was just what I needed to get started on solving the mystery!
