Cant belive i made this, i apologize!:P

Hey guys whats up!

Yup, i went on and did the ONe thing i was sure i’d never do…makea FLappy Bird clone!

But wait! before u throw those rocks at me, hear me out. I was apporached by the lovely Jesse here on the forums and he wanted my art for a small game, wich is u know, fine and all. When he mentioned a flappy game…ill admit i was alittle hesitant, but hey, im just the artist:P

Then i searched for “flappy” in the store and realized that most of them look like there was no effort made at all to make em look atleast diffrent. So we did this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.openmicgames.tippywings&hl=en

Ill post some screens aswell:

So yeah, this is our attempt to make Flappy Bird atleast alittle original. Im gonna add background to those gaps because i ahve NO idea how those trees are hovering in mind air.

Oh i posted it in WIP since im still working on it, we just had to get it out on the store, i hope thats ok! Adding alot of new stuff to this game.

thanks for looking, please dont hate me!

Kelde!

Is this a work in progress or is it a finished game? If it is a finished game then you have posted it in the wrong section!

Looks beautiful to be honest. I don’t like that you wasted a wonderful talent on it but I can appreciate the graphics a lot.

That’s one HELL of a flappy bird clone! Wow. Looks absolutely stunning.

Thats why i was hesitant, but i also saw a opportunity to actually make something off these damn clones. Well its out in the stores, but it aint finished as far as content goes and im updating the art and adding in the 6 unlockable birds. Its a finished WIP i guess,

I basicly figured screw it, lets do it:p its a collab game by my company (Nordic Pixel) and OMG!, Jesses company so we both take the blame for it:p

We were just so sick of the mario ripped graphics, pixel art ones and generally bad quality, except a couple ones that looks REALLY good ofcourse.

The design is very cool, congrats.
You can create a Webplayer or need more development?

Personally I’m pretty sick of all the flappy bird clones but I have to admit you have 1 of the best flappy bird clones I seen so far. The graphics are beautiful for this type of game that’s for sure. Most people just seem to rush and get their clones out with no effort but it looks like you put a lot of time into yours, I’m glad theirs people out their still willing to take their time and do stuff right, good job.

Love the art style… Do you do contract work?

Looks awesome!
I was thinking instead of trunks cutouts, maybe you can do tree holes that switch to show the inside when flying through them? You know to give it some more realism and further distant yourself from flappy bird.

Good graphics do not create a good game.

I believe he acknowledged that.

Graphics do really make a different in a games presentation…naturally. But what I mean is that, If I were to look at a screen shot of flappy bird, vs this…Well I’d choose this surely. The graphics make it look like it’s more complicated/interesting in its game mechanics then a flappy bird, even though thats probably not true. So that’s shows you did a good job in the graphics. However, one thing that bugs me is the gradient on the Tippy Wings logo, I think it could have been done better, it’s a little off to me.

It is another Flappy bird clone, but if money can be made on it, and you use that money to make better games. Props to you.

Good luck with the release.

This kind of sums up my feelings on the whole flappy-bird-clone subject, but I can definitely appreciate/commend the effort that went into the artwork you made. If you really have to do a clone at least make some effort to improve upon the original - your artwork certainly does that

Have to agree on the point about the logo gradient (and by extension the buttons that use the same style). The rest of your artwork, and even the wings on the side of the logo, use a gorgeous hand-painted approach which just makes the gradient look a little ‘cheap’ by comparison. But it’s still a fairly minor thing.

All in all, some great artwork

Haha good comments, and yes we know its based on one of the shittiest games around, never even gonna try to say this plays any diffrent. The only thing we made sure of was to make the bird behave alittle more “natural”, and i made his animations look like that too, this little bird(s) is actually struggling to stay up.

The trees like mentioned are getting a workover, im making BG’s for the gaps so it looks like u are flying through holes, not sure we wanna cover up the front but we will see.

Its just a Flappy Bird clone, but we are basicly trying to make one that acts more like a FINISHED game, amongst all those rushed ones that are absolutely littering the store right now. Searching for “Flappy” pretty much breaks my heart…go try it, ull either laugh or cry,for days.

Not now but i will be, Im basicly setting up a service for that when the website is up. Right now im too busy to even think about that, i tried and it took me way longer than i’d normally take, so not gonna promise anyone contract work just yet.

Afetr Match im off my dayjob so then ill be more flexible:)

Well done, looks appealing and polished.
If you have something new to introduce in your “copy”, then it’s tottaly fine to base on other title. Everything in the world has developed on borrowing.

yeah we do, we werent actually gonna develop this alot more since it is in nature just a clone made prettier, but ppl seem to want more out of this. We added the unloackable birds u can use in multiplayer just to show off, but we also wanna fade the enviroment into winter, desert, nighttime as u go along. Right now im just polishing the stuff thats already there, and finishing animating the rest of the birds.

Fading environment changes sounds like a great idea! Although I can already imagine it being a bit of a nightmare to pull off, especially if you want to do a very slow and subtle transition.

However, bad graphics automatically create a bad game.

Depends on what u mean by bad graphics, and i suspect its ur personal opinion at works when it comes to that, like in most cases. Castle Crashers for instance, is not what i would call “good” graphics, personal preferance, but they work 100% with the game, all that matters. World of Goo,again, not a beautiful game, but tailored to work specifiaccly with the core mechanics of the game. Dust: Elysium Tale, Rayman (latest) are what i consider good graphics, but im sure they would work with diffrent looks.

This looks amazing. Post it on the toucharcade forums and get some exposure.
