Can't get player to move with keyboard, code and errors listed below

I am getting these errors:
Assets\MovementBitch1.cs(21,4): error CS1519: Invalid token ‘void’ in class, record, struct, or interface member declaration

Assets\MovementBitch1.cs(10,34): error CS1002: ; expected

8193891–1068483–MovementBitch1.cs (946 Bytes)

It’s pretty obvious if you actually look closely at what you have in your script.
Line 9 - you are missing a ; at the end of the line
Line 17 - you have a void with nothing else relevant to a method on that line

As a bonus, on line 20 you have incorrectly typed FixedUpdate. Captilisation matters in C#, so you need to get into the habit of typing things properly. And of course your vector2 on line 32 is wrong - but I’m going to assume you know that based on your comment on that line (which I suppose if a reminder to yourself to actually include all the parts of the Vector2 and not just the y.

You’re not “getting errors.” You are actually just “making typos.” Don’t make typos.

Remember: NOBODY here memorizes error codes. That’s not a thing. The error code is absolutely the least useful part of the error. It serves no purpose at all. Forget the error code. Put it out of your mind.

The complete error message contains everything you need to know to fix the error yourself.

The important parts of the error message are:

  • the description of the error itself (google this; you are NEVER the first one!)
  • the file it occurred in (critical!)
  • the line number and character position (the two numbers in parentheses)
  • also possibly useful is the stack trace (all the lines of text in the lower console window)

Always start with the FIRST error in the console window, as sometimes that error causes or compounds some or all of the subsequent errors. Often the error will be immediately prior to the indicated line, so make sure to check there as well.

All of that information is in the actual error message and you must pay attention to it. Learn how to identify it instantly so you don’t have to stop your progress and fiddle around with the forum.
