the point is that my system and Unity Hub said that I had about 90gb of free space on my SSD and then when I was trying to install Unity 2019(which needed only 11Gb of space) it dropped me message like “There’s not enough space to download and install selected item”.
Is that a bug? Was I doing something wrong?
P.S. I tried to reinstall Unity Hub and it didn’t help.
Is your only drive the SSD? Is it your system drive also?
You likely are out of disk space on the drive with your temp folder.
No, It’s not my system drive but I’ve chosen the folder on my additional SSD to install it there. If I understand correctly, now I need to free some space on my system drive to solve this problem. Now the question is how much space should I free to complete installation. Will it take all of 10Gb it needs or more? btw, thank you for your reply.
Yes, probably here’s the problem. How much space should I free to finally install unity?
Thank you for your reply.
Probably depends on what optional components you choose, but I’d start with trying to free up 20GB as a ballpark number. Besides, it isn’t a good idea to run your system drive close to full, as it can cause a variety of issues.
And the same is true to any SSDs. Generally it’s a good habit to leave 20% free space on them.
Yeah, I believe you’re referring to the wear leveling algorithm SSDs implement, which if it can’t shuffle data around will result in an earlier death of the drive.
