Can't open .16 project with .18?

My project created with .16 can’t open with .18

No. Folks have succeeded by first deleting the project’s local ‘Library’ folder, the one that is a sibling of your ‘Assets’ folder. I believe this can be re-created via a re-import of assets etc. by Unity. Make a backup first before deleting it in case something goes awry and you find yourself really needing it, but I don’t think it is required to be source versioned etc.

I intend go back to b16 from b18 but in Game Mode have “Runtime Error!” and then the Editor closes.
