Hi,
I try to using Unity on my windows xp virtual machine (Vbox) but when i try to run it system shows the error message:
Failed to initialize 3D graphics
Details:
Failed to initialize Direct3D 9.
Make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.
I installed Direct3D and set 3D acceleration in machine settings, so I don’t know what is wrong.
Perhaps there is no possibility to run unity on Vbox ?

installing dx and setting hw acceleration does not mean the virtual hardware really offers hw acceleration
But generally virtual systems are not supported only physical windows and osx machines (remember, the license is hardware locked. smarty panting around that by using virtual system isn’t even legal)
Hi, thanks for reply.
So this is sad, because i created vm for collect all development environment together.
Otherwise if this concept is illegal i have to forget about this.

Installation itself wouldn’t be but using it on more than 1 machine in the end would be.
But unity as any 3d heavy environment really suffers severly from virtualized environments so even if it worked, I wouldn’t want to go there, the performance lose is just too high.
