Can't Use The Y-Axis With My Main Camera

For some reason, no matter what FPS Mouse Look script I use, I can’t not look up and down only from left to right.

For some reason I am having similar issues with the built-in MouseLook script. Its really weird.

There are two MouseLooks in the standard First Person Controller: one attached to the character and with Axes set to MouseX (it’s used to turn the character left/right), and other attached to the camera with Axes set to MouseY (used to move the camera up/down). Attach the MouseLook script to your camera, and set Axes to MouseY like in the standard FPS.

,I tried that exact same thing from a youtube tutorial I found. Still didn’t work. I am pretty stumped.

Maybe your problem is in the Input manager: click Edit/Project Settings/Input and verify if the Mouse Y axis is correctly configured - or just click the "gear" button at the right and select Reset to return to the default settings.

I also tried using the FPSWalkerEnhanced script from http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/48229-RPG-Inventory-Source and it does the same thing. I can only turn left/right.

This may not be the best solution but it did solved the problem.

Just creat a new scene, put a new terrain on it ( just something for the first person to stand on) and put in a First person controller.
Try the play mode and check if you can look up.

If you are abble to look up on this scene, then go back to the scene where you have no rights to look up, delete the main camera and the first person controller and replace them with the ones from the other scene (where you’r able to look up )

You may want to write down first wich scripts (if you had one) where attached to the first person controller or his children or the the main camera.

I hope it works out for you as well “you can still hit Redo if it does not work”

I had this problem and it was cause the Y sensitivity was set to zero

I had this problem too. I think it might have been due to some script inadvertantly adding a camera to the FPSController parent object of the FirstPersonCharacter object.
Anyhow, when I removed the entire FPSController object and its children and readded from the prefab the camera was not on the parent object anymore and the y axis started working again.

Its probably because your camera was added as a component to your player. Remove the camera from your player and Create a camera in the scene as a child of your player and attach that to your script.

I have just figured my problem out, I couldn’t look up or down and it was because I had 2 cameras on the FPS Controller, one on the FPSController its self and another on its child, the firstpersoncharacter

The problem is that there are two cameras at the same time… the main and the fpcontroller one. One must be deleted or switched off and everything is fine. I hope this help somebody

Figured it out for me, all you have to do is uncheck the “Clamp Vertical Rotation” for the standard assets character. Pretty simple!

delete the “MainCamera” and it will be fixed
