Canvas Not Visible in Scene View after Unity 6 update

Canvas not showing up in Scene View, but visible in Game View.

Things checked:

Enabled as gizmo
Visible in Layers (UI Layer)

Config:

Overlay camera renders the UI Layer
Base camera does not

Changing this config or just creating a new camera with everything in the culling layer does not resolve the outcome.

Was viewable in 2023.3 LTS, bug in 6000.0.23.f1.

Important: Works on MacOS Editor, fails on Win 11.

Canvas is not a 2D feature, it’s UI, specifically UGUI so please use the tags for that otherwise your post gets put int he 2D product area.

The 2D tags are for 2D features.

I’ll update them for you.

Thanks.

No answer to resolve a showstopper?

So here’s the answer:

There’s a bug in Unity where “Draw Mode” needed to be toggled to back to Lit (a setting which I’ve never changed) to make the UI appear. But thanks anyway for the pedantic response regarding tagging this post.

Your post was in the 2D product area where it wasn’t likely anyone would be able to help you with a UI question. Using the correct tags puts it in the correct place where you must agree that you’re more likely to get help. This is moderation and happens all the time for incorrect tags.

I have no control over the fact that nobody knew the answer to your question and I know nothing about the UI issue you have as I’m in the 2D team working on physics so calling me out as being “pedantic” because you didn’t get an answer is not only unprofessional but I personally take offensive.

My response got hidden as “spam” – this is an abuse of the system. It had no advertisement content whatsoever. Talk about wrong labeling!

No, this type of response is crucial to Unity surviving as a platform, instead of platforming petty tyrants on its forums. If you don’t know – send it to your colleagues who do. Apologize for paying users like myself receiving breakage on arrival of Unity 6. Just because you feel offended, does not make it a magic wand to evade responsibility. How do you think we feel for receiving a breaking product and then get an official response for a wrong label without any addressal of the problem?

I will appeal this post and go all the way to leadership if this is is mislabeled as spam.

Nothing speaks adherence to truth like THREE SEPARATE EDITS to your post, obfuscating the original discussion, not to mention trying to get rid of users’ responses by abusing forum privileges.

Use this as an opportunity to learn and improve. I’m not your colleague or your friend, I’m your customer, who pays you a lot of money for your services.

Sorry you feel like that but know that your post was flagged due to its content. It’s up to the moderators to make a decision on your responses. All posts flagged are temporary hidden by the system itself, not by myself. My edits have time-stamps and are done as I type them not after; I’m a terrible typer, what can I say.

As I’ve already said, I work in 2D physics and I do not fix issues in UI and know nothing about it so inferring that I somehow should have fixed the issue isn’t correct. The whole point of me redirecting your question was so you could get an answer from people who would.

Thanks.
