Cardboard VR Different texture on different eye

I want to view a different texture in each eye of Google cardboard. Do I need another camera on the scene.? Would anybody know how to achieve this.?

I’ve not tried it on Cardboard but on the Rift (and using only native Unity VR), I can make two cameras and two quads, each assigned to its own layer and then I setup the culling mask on each camera so it only sees its own quad.
