Hey I was just curious how many people, if any, were going to be at the casual connect in Seattle, WA in July.
Unity Technologies will be there yet again, as a sponsor with a table.
Anyone else?
Im probably going to be there, I just wanted to see how many people I could network with while I was there.
Cool. We are going to be there with a table as well. Looking forward to meeting Unity peeps at the show. Looks like its going be all bout the iphone. Hope theres a big secret Unity announcement brewing – like, 2D mode!

I live here in Federal Way(about 25 min away from Seattle). Was considering going but not sure since I don’t know any companies or people in the area.
We use Unity for www.friendshangout.com. We won’t have a booth or anything but was just considering going since our virtual world is pretty much in line with the casual market. It would be cool to just meet some unity people in the seattle area and see how many people/companies are using Unity.
Be nice to really see how many people are using unity and what there doing with it as well. If anyone is around the area gimme a pm to see whats up.

If you are in the area you should totally try to attend. its one of the biggest events in the casual game industry.
It’d be great if Unity did a session.
David Helgason, our CEO, is speaking as part of a panel discussion on MMO/virtual world content, otherwise the sessions are sorted and this isn’t a conference that really allows sponsored sessions per se. Either way, we’ll be there in the main lobby area so come say hi!
Edit: see my post later in this thread about a possible social meet-up for Unity folks…
Great. looking fwd to it. Two of us from CodeWalla are going to be there for sure.
I am coming too
Noted! In case you want some idea of what happens when these sorts of “hey, let’s get together” conversations get started look at this thread and know that it lead to this get together.
At least one person (me) from Makeshift Games will be there. See you there!
Awesome, I’ve updated my post above!
Someone from yanki.jp may be there as well. I loved the show when it was in the Ukraine a couple years back ^_^. I was using even using Unity on something small in my hotel room there. hehe.
I’ll be there all three days… I live just up the road in Kenmore. Looking forward to it, and to meeting a bunch of other Unity folks! I’ve probably been standing next to you in lines at coffee shops for months! So please do let me in on any arranged events, casual meet ups and whatnot.
Two months ago the team I was on shipped a PS3 game, and I decided to go indie rather than get back on “the treadmill”. I’m super excited about how many opportunities there are in this space right now. Haven’t been to the casual connect event before, so it should be a fun new time.
I’ll be there too - looking forward to it.
I had never heard of this before, and I find their website pretty confusing, so maybe you wouldn’t mind setting my head straight.
The “registration” page refers to “Memberships” instead of “Conference Registration”. Since this is put on by an association, are these annual memberships in the association? Or are the conference tickets per person?
EG: If the company can join the CGA and this allows us to both (there are two of us) to go to the conference for $450, that’s great. If the total would be $900 then, its more questionable whether we’d go.
We’re not quite in the “casual games” business, though we can see it from here.
Also, Kiyev is $200. Which indicates that this isn’t really a membership, but is more of a conference registration fee?
FWIW, the Casual Connect series of conferences are great in my book. I’ve attended every year in Seattle and it’s grown from a few hundred to a few thousand people with great material. I attended in Hamburg this past February and it was great as well.
AFAIK this is more like a conference ticket, but with that you also get membership in the Casual Games Association. But really, think more like “per-person conference ticket” than anything else and if you have any additional questions then I’d suggest using the contact link provided on the registration page.
Moved from earlier in this thread…
If we get enough people coalescing together I’ll arrange something for us all. But I need to know who’s coming and who’s not, speak up if you are and I’ll add you to the list…

any news on a some unity users (addicts) meeting in bar or pub?
Not yet, but I hope to be sorting something out rather soon. Most of us will be there on Monday (David arrives Tuesday), we’ll be at the pre-funk/badge pick-up party and then… ? Maybe we can arrange something then or later in the week.
For those that said you’re coming, when are you actually arriving? Is it “safe” for me to try and sort something out for Monday night?
Monday is my birthday BTW!
i land monday noon and fly out thursday night.
