It’s only the preview as of yet, but it should be approved in a few days. In the meantime, I’ll let the page speak for itself:

And it is now live! Here’s the page and a sample of the concept art:

Far far FAR too much money! This project doesn’t need this much money. Don’t expect it to be funded.
Are you crazy? Have you ever done a serious project for a game marked to last between 10-15 hours, particularly a game with 3D graphics? The only way you can make it for less is if you either have all or most of the art done already (in which case time/money is already spent), or if you have money saved up to pay the bills in the meantime.
Amount of money taken by Kickstarter and Amazon Payments if funded: $50,000 * .15 = $7,500
Estimated time to finish: 1 year.
Estimated cost of living with a cruddy apartment and cheap food: $25,000 a year.
Number of people working on the game full-time if funded: Two people.
Amount of raised money vs. amount needed for a full year for two people: $42,500 vs. $50,000
If we were budgeting out to pay all our bills, in summary, we should be charging more money, not less. Not to mention it’s not even paying the salary of a low-level worker in any industry, which tends to be closer to $30,000 to $35,000 a year.
Actually, KheltonHeadley does have a bit of a point. This game is a lovely, unique concept and you obviously have very talented people working with you, but there really isn’t that much to go on yet. $50,000 is extremely steep, regardless of if it uses 3D graphics or not. It’s not so much that you don’t need the money, but that it doesn’t seem very realistic that you will reach that in 30 days with the content that is currently being shown.
These are some great concept pieces and you’ve shown off some nice style in the video, but there is still very much left out. People are going to want to see more development than a few stills and some concept drawings. You might consider delaying your kickstarter campaign until you have more to show off. It does seem to be an interesting concept and I hope you go far with it.
Actually, there’s much more to come. If it was meant in that respect, I apologize for the slightly heated response. ![]()
In under a week, the animations for the ninja will be complete. At that point, I’ll be putting in a demo of the movement and hiding systems in addition to providing the movement demo (once polished a bit) as a playable prototype for people looking at the Kickstarter.
As with any Kickstarter, there will be quite a bit of additional updates added over time.
Much more to come sure, but if it doesn’t surface soon you’re going to facing a failed kickstarter. Probably sounded like a dick in my first comment but I’m just letting you know, you could have waited a week or two until you had something more to show off. The texture work is some places isn’t too great and you don’t have much to draw people in. We’ll see how it goes though, if you succeed, if so I’ll take back my previous statement.
Perhaps, but there’s the simple fact that the building process is always the best sales point on these. Given I do a major update of this sort every week to the end and spread knowledge of it far and wide, I’ve got a fair shot.
People have been funded to this level while providing fewer details than I have.
Looks like it could be a fun project but I’m 100% with Khelton here, kickstarting it way too early. You are asking for $50,000 to build a game based on a video that looks like it was made in a ninth grade media class. Your video is your approach to the world, and to me your approach says, “I don’t really care about this”.
Consider for example “The Other Brothers” kickstarter. Much more polished, lots of details, many articles in the indie games press, great graphics, heaps of gameplay footage, lots of social media followers … and they still didn’t get $50,000.
If you are serious about this you need to redo your video. Don’t show us 10 static screenshots of some completely unrelated projects. Tell us what the game is about, and let your passion for the game show through.
PS Kickstarter threads are not allowed in WIP - http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/120566-WIP-RULES-Updated-July-Read-or-have-your-threads-closed
Seriously? Didn’t know the rules had been changed on the subject. Well, if that’s the case, then I shall see what I can do to delete it.
Shame, though, as this would basically be where I’d be posting updates to how the game went regardless of how the Kickstarter went.
Gargerath for updates you should use IndieDB http://www.indiedb.com/ everytime you upload new content IndieDB bumps your game up to the top of the Game Listing on that Website, so you easily get exposure and feedback from other Developers and Gamers.
