Change shuriken emission rate

I’m looking for a way to change the emission time rate for the particles that’s different from the standard 1 second - 2.5 seconds to be exact. Is there any way I can do this directly or do I have to find a (possibly difficult) workaround?

P.S. I’m also curious to know if it’s possible to increase the speed of all particles as time progresses.

A little script should help:
