Changing prefab animation color

I have a rigged character animation done in Unity, grouped in a prefab with all the individual sprites. (Typical way Unity does it) Is there a way to change the color or opacity of the entire animation in the scene? I’m adding a flashing hit effect.

I’d rather not have to change each individual sprite material that is rigged.

I know this is an old post, but it still shows up in google. Did you ever find an answer? I’ve heard you can use a material, but for some reason that didn’t sit right with me.
