Changing Unity Pro subscription: Dec. 31 deadline

I received an email in September (attached below) offering the opportunity for me to “switch” to Unity Pro for $75 a month for 12 months. But I already pay $75 a month for Unity Pro, and have for years. I have to respond by Dec. 31st, 2016. I visited the link (which I removed from the letter posted here) and it said I can start the new subscription for $75 a month, or continue my existing Pro subscription until June 2018.

This is not at all clear. If I switch, does it offer any features I do not already have? It appears to be identical in every way. If I do switch, what happens in 12 months? Does my payment jump to $125? If so, why wouldn’t I just continue my subscription until June, 2018 and then buy a subscription? That would save me $200. I already saved $150 by waiting to switch, if I do switch.

If I do NOT switch, dopes my existing subscription INCREASE next month to $125???

Does anyone know about this?

Thank you.

Get the new Pro at the price you pay today
The new Pro now includes iOS and Android support at no extra cost (yes, the add-ons are gone!).

Click below to immediately cancel your current plan and switch to the new Pro. Pay only $75/month for 12 months. That’s $50 off the regular price of $125/month for a year!

3 things to know about your offer

1. It’s exclusive. It’s only available via the link in this email. Do not go to the online store to switch your subscription as you will end up paying the full $125 price.

2. It’s time-limited. You need to claim the offer before December 31, 2016.

3. It’s not an upgrade. You can start your new Pro subscription immediately and choose the version of Unity you want to use in the editor.

This part really says it all.

  • the difference between new and old pro
  • whether the price will increase

Or, to put it in other words, you are currently paying $75 for one module, not desktop/iOS/Android combined, and your subscription stays as it is, but the new subscription would increase after one year.

Thank you, Baroni. I am very grateful to you for taking time to clarify this for me. I’ll ask my technical people if we need these added services. I am guessing they will say yes.
