Character animates but doesn't move

I’ve been wrestling with this issue for a couple days now and despite reading up on several similar posts I can’t seem to figure out what’s wrong.

I’m currently working on setting up third-person character controller with Playmaker.

I imported a character from the Asset Store which I set up according to a tutorial, however in the end, the character just animated on the spot but didn’t move (checked ‘Apply Root Motion’).

I tried the same process with a different character pack from the Asset Store but encountered the same problem.

However, I’ve noticed something across animations for both characters: in the “preview window” of their animations (‘run’ for instance) the preview character is also animating “on the spot”, rather than moving through the 3D space. Which makes me think there’s a setting, somewhere, I’m missing…

Sounds like your animations don’t include root motion. Many animation packs, especially older ones or ones designed for use across different engines and not just Unity, are in-place rather than root motion. Try something like Unity’s free Mecanim Locomotion Starter Kit which has root motion animations.

Did you find any solution, I’m also using character pack and facing the same issue, previously I used Maximo a lot and its works great, but it has limited characters.
