Character Customization With Animation

Hey there,

I’m tryign to plan my character customization system, and I can’t find an answer of how I should go about using items that are affected by more than 1 bone, which means that I cannot just parent then to a bone, but I have skin them to the bones.

Question, how can I use the bones the character already uses? so as in re-direct the bones of the character to the boots too, but only the nessecery bones? (in this case some of the leg bones).

Or is there a different way of achieving this, that I overlooked?

A common approach is to make a mesh for each variation of a body part and skin them all to the rig (e.g., bare feet, booted feet, slippered feet, etc.). Activate the mesh for the current variation and leave the rest inactive.
