I’ve been using Graph Maker and it’s worked out really well: Unity Asset Store - The Best Assets for Game Making. I’ve been graphing a small number of values with a line graph at 75Hz on an Oculus DK2 and it hasn’t hurt my frame rate. I haven’t really gone anywhere near 1000 objects but it’s very configurable and you can turn off all the fancy animation stuff to get it to render faster.
Graph Maker looks good. I ended up going with Graph Master for no other reason than it appeared simpler and I figured possibly faster for me to get ramped up. It gets the job done, some of the automation in the Unity menus does not work very well with Unity 5 but I extracted a prefab from the example scene and bent it to my will.
