Cheetah 3D Object Import Problems

I have a level originally created in DeleD and then imported into Cheetah. There, I’ve added all of the interior objects, textures, etc. In Cheetah - it looks perfect.

If I then export it as a 3DS file and pop it into Unity iPhone - everything looks exactly right, but I can’t use lightmaps.

If I export it as a JAS file or FBX file from Cheetah and then into Unity iPhone, I’m finding that random objects (e.g. a chair, a table, whatever) have turned upside down, dropped through the floor, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this to happen?

Thought a picture might make it easier to understand what I’m getting at.

Top is Cheetah3D, bottom is Unity iPhone.

If you were using Blender I’d say that you forgot to “Apply Transforms/Rotations”. I’m guessing there’s something in Cheetah that’s similar that you need to do. Otherwise, maybe try exporting to .OBJ?

Actually, after posting to the Cheetah3D forum as well, Martin (the developer) got back to me and indicated that this is actually a known bug in the FBX exporter that’s fixed in the current beta for the new 5.5 version. I’m surprised other Unity users haven’t run into the issue?

I can’t try out the beta until tonight, but in the release notes for the beta this looks promising:

-fixed FBX export bug (messed up rotation)

Anyone else who happens to run into the issue, the beta is available here:
