I’m planning to get Unity sometime soon and wanted to ask if there’s usually some kind of x-mas discount coming around christmas? I remember there was some (long) time ago a 20% off coupon somewhere so I thought I better ask if there is something like that usual around christmas (before I buy).

The discount you’re referring to was a dual purpose discount, partially for the holidays and partially to ‘celebrate’ my having been hired and us opening an San Francisco office (go here and scroll down to the news for Dec. 21, 2006). I wouldn’t say there’s “usually” a holiday discount though, there wasn’t one in 2005, the one in 2006 was under special circumstances, 2007?
And what’s more is that we don’t typically pre-announce special discount opportunities, you’ll only hear about them when they’re open and available. 
Hehe, thanks for clarification. I already guessed that you wouldn’t announce a discount, but hearing that there is not usually such discount thing over christmas was already a good answer to me.

The idea behind was, if it takes someone to be hired and holidays to celebrate and so the discount then why not hiring the long awaited windows gui guy during the christmas holidays. But don’t take this too serious!

Because christmas is a time of love goodness, not a holiday during which you sell your soul to the devil.
Maybe I should apply myself to the job - that way I can make sure there is then a christmas offer. But wait, if I work for them, I don’t need to buy Unity any longer… Bah
