“The popular FBX and COLLADA file formats have been updated facilitating easier asset exchange and interoperability.”
Unity 3.5 will have support for import direct from Cinema 4D R13.
These are News i was waiting for all the time!
Let´s see what they do.
Yeah, an “updated FBX export” does not equal a “working FBX export”… especially not for Maxon customers ![]()
Apparently the C4D/fbx > Unity issues are now fixed in r13, although the Cactus Dan fbx exporter for C4D is a little more feature rich than the C4D native version http://www.cactus3d.com/CDFBX.html
It does this by going through the FBX format, right?
Will Unity 3.5 update to FBX 2012 too? It looks like Unity 3.4 is still using FBX 2011_31.
Unwrap 3D also has a well-developed exporter from Cinema 4D. This can be then exported to FBX format
using their FBX 2012 exporter. As soon as R13 is released in September, I’m sure you’ll see a
R13 plugin for it too.
Man! that’s so cool =) i switch to C4D !
yep, i wait for the realease to buy it:)
they have a special offer for august : (MSA) 1 year updates for free on all maxon products ! ![]()
Cheers
@ Paulius : thanks for the info!
I’m using C4D for 3 years already, and it’s an awesome tool. Glad to see they’re easing the rigging process even more.
Also, existing users should try to give a shot to Python/COFFEE scripting if not done already. By a proper script you can litterally automate anything, which is really vital for converting your animated character to an exploitable Unity object (baking, for example).
Also, don’t hesitate to buy Cactus Dan’s solutions, they are cutting-edge and can save you tons of hours (CD Transfer saved me days of scripting when I had to re-align all my 8 characters bone structures).
Yes, that is correct (just as it used to do).
I hope so. We couldn’t upgrade to FBXSDK 2012.1 since it had a very serious regression.
just upgraded to Cinema 4D R13 and Unity is now throwing the following error when loading an R13 file: “Cinema 4D couldn’t convert the .C4D file to an fbx file.” Is this because Unity 3.4 does not install an R13 compatible plugin compatible? If so, is there somewhere we can download a plugin compatible with R13? If not, when will this be available?
Export FBX file. Normaly i never load C4D file directly to the unity 3d. Is more easy.![]()
To anyone already using R13 Studio:
How well does the auto-rigger work with Unity?
I´m already using R13 Studio too.
At less can load the models clean into unity, And basic animation works fine in unity. Animations Riged whit bones IK etc… i not yet test.
Try use a pre animated chraracter from scenes tutorial like “Bruno” walk cicle exprot to FBX and load into unity and see what appens.
I haven’t upgraded to R13 Studio yet. That’s why I wanted to know about some user experiences with the character tools first (hence the specific questions). So far I’m still using Visualize R12.
The fast setup for rigging is a pretty interesting feature but I wanted to know whether it is only useful for rendered animations or also works togwther with Unity for example.
Sorry if I didn’t make that clear. ![]()
Paulius, you said
.
The first service update on C4D R13 mentions -
Does this mean we’ll have PLA animation supported in FBX by 3.5
?
Bake the animations for do it
Cinema 4D R13 won’t work with unity for me.
After Unity installs the plugin I get the following error:
Cinema 4D couldn’t convert the .C4D file to an fbx file.
Try exporting the .C4D file to an fbx file manually.
EXPORT_ERROR: FBX exporter not found
Anyone know a fix?
Edit: nevermind, just noticed that the compatibility is expected in 3.5 not 3.4. looking forward to it!
